Overflight Permits in Sri Lanka’s International Operations
According to Universal Weather and Aviation, any aircraft owner/operator intending to fly in Sri Lanka airspace must apply for an overflight permit at least 48 working hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time. The application can be done online via the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) website. For seasonal or block overflights, the application should be submitted at least two weeks before the operation of the flight. The overflight permit is valid for the specified date, time, route, and aircraft registration number. Any changes to the approved details must be notified to the CAASL in advance.
Landing Permits in Sri Lanka's International Operations
Similarly, any aircraft owner/operator intending to land in Sri Lanka must apply for a landing permit at least 72 hours prior to the flight. The application can also be done online via the CAASL website. The landing permit is valid for the specified date, time, airport, and aircraft registration number. Any changes to the approved details must also be notified to the CAASL in advance. Additionally, the aircraft owner/operator must comply with the local airport regulations, such as customs, immigration, health, security, and environmental requirements. The CAASL may impose fees or charges for the landing permit, depending on the type and purpose of the flight.
