Landing Permits in Portugal’s International Operations

Obtaining landing permits is a crucial aspect of planning aircraft operations in Portugal. The requirements for these permits vary depending on the nature of the flight. Private non-revenue operations do not require landing permits for travel to airport of entry (AOE) airports in Portugal, but they are mandatory for domestic airfields. On the other hand, charter (non-scheduled commercial) operators always require landing permits, except for technical stops where passengers or crew do not embark or disembark. It is essential to plan ahead, as private non-revenue landing permits require two business days for processing, while charter permits necessitate four business days and are valid for the Zulu day. Keep in mind that if there are changes to the origin, destination, or schedule outside of the Zulu day, permit revisions are necessary. For operations to the military side of LPPT, charter permits must be requested two weeks in advance, while private non-revenue air ambulance permit requests should be submitted two days prior.
