Overflight Permits in Niue’s International Operations

Niue Island is a self-governing state in free association with New Zealand, located in the South Pacific Ocean. It has a single airport, Niue International Airport (IATA: IUE, ICAO: NIUE), which serves as the main gateway for visitors and cargo. Niue Island does not require overflight permits for flights passing through its airspace. However, it is advisable to file a flight plan with the Niue Air Traffic Services (ATS) at least 24 hours before the intended flight. The flight plan should include the following information:

    • Aircraft identification
    • Aircraft type and equipment
    • Departure aerodrome and time
    • Cruising speed and level
    • Route of flight
    • Destination aerodrome and estimated time of arrival
    • Total estimated elapsed time
    • Fuel endurance
    • Number of persons on board
    • Any other information required by the ATS

The Niue ATS operates from 1700Z to 0700Z (0600 to 2000 local time) daily.

    • A copy of the aircraft certificate of registration
    • A copy of the aircraft certificate of airworthiness
    • A copy of the aircraft insurance certificate showing worldwide coverage or country-specific coverage
    • A copy of the pilot license and medical certificate
