Operators planning non-scheduled private flights over the Maldives must request overflight permits from the Director General of Civil Aviation, applying at least 24 hours in advance of the intended overflight. The application should include details such as the aircraft operating agency’s name and address, aircraft type, nationality, registration marks, call-sign, commander’s name, crew and passenger numbers, description of goods (if any), purpose of flight, and scheduled route, date, and timing of operations. Adequate notice is crucial; as insufficient notice may lead to the application not being considered.
Landing Permits in Maldives’ International Operations
Operators intending to perform non-scheduled private landings in the Maldives, for passenger, cargo, or mail purposes, must seek landing permits from the Director General of Civil Aviation. The application should be submitted at least 24 hours in advance of the planned landing and should include essential information such as the aircraft operating agency’s name and full address (including contact details), aircraft type, nationality, registration marks, call-sign, commander’s name, crew and passenger counts, description of cargo (if applicable), purpose of the flight, and the scheduled route, date, and time of operations. According to the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, there are no official CAA processing fees applied for the issuance of a Maldives overflight permit.
A Maldives overflight permit is typically valid for +/- 72 hours from the initially requested schedule.
The Maldives CAA will issue the air navigation bill directly to the airline/operator.
The issued overflight permit number must be inserted in Item 18 of your submitted Flight Plan.
