Aviation Aircraft Fuel Supply at Raleigh Durham International Airport

Raleigh–Durham International Airport (IATA: RDU, ICAO: KRDU), commonly referred to by its IATA code RDU, serves as the primary international airport for Raleigh, Durham, and the surrounding Research Triangle region in North Carolina. Situated in unincorporated Wake County, the airport is a vital hub for the region.

The airport features three active runways: Runway 05L/23R at 10,000 feet (3,048 meters) with a concrete surface, Runway 05R/23L at 7,500 feet (2,286 meters) with asphalt, and Runway 14/32 at 3,570 feet (1,088 meters) also with asphalt. Additionally, a new concrete runway, 05L/23R, is under construction and will measure 10,639 feet (3,243 meters) when completed. In 2023, RDU served 14,523,996 passengers, facilitated 216,081 aircraft movements, and handled 202,642,566 pounds of air cargo. RDU operates two terminals with a combined total of 45 gates. These terminals are not connected airside; passengers traveling between them can use a shuttle bus or the moving walkway through covered parking decks. All non-precleared international flights are processed in Terminal 2 at gates C21, C23, C24, and C25. Terminal 1 houses nine gates (A1–A9) and has potential expansions under the Vision2040 plan, proposing the addition of 4, 7, 12, or 15 gates. Terminal 2 includes 36 gates, comprising concourses C and D, and is the sole terminal for international arrivals. The airport enforces several operational restrictions. Jet engine maintenance runs are prohibited between midnight and 6:00 a.m. Prior permission is required for all unscheduled charter flights with 30 or more passengers. Additionally, Taxiway C between Taxiways F and G is restricted to aircraft with a maximum gross takeoff weight under 490,000 pounds.
