Turkmenistan has established its own rules, regulations, and procedures for permits required by aircraft intending to land or enter its airspace. Whether it is a private flight, general aviation, charter flight, scheduled or non-scheduled operation, passengers or cargo trip, or a technical or traffic landing, prior permission is mandatory.

When submitting the flight plan, the issued overflight permit number must be inserted in Item 18.

The overflight permit for Turkmenistan is identified as GC/8/6275/111218. It is important to note that there are no CAA processing fees officially applied for the issuance of the Turkmenistan Overflight Permit.

In Turkmenistan, it is important to specify whether there are No Dangerous Goods (DG), Military personnel, or Government Officials on board when applying for permits. Additionally, the lead time for processing the Overflight (OVF) permit is a minimum of 12 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure.

Turkmenistan overflight permits remain valid for a duration of +96 hours from their initial requested schedule.

The airspace of Turkmenistan is currently divided into four flight information regions (FIRs).

The National Civil Aviation Authority of Turkmenistan is responsible for handling overflight permits.

The Turkmenistan CAA will directly issue air navigation bills to the company that submits the overflight permit requests.

The working hours of the Turkmenistan Civil Aviation Authority are from 0300Z to 1200Z.
