Any aircraft owner/operator intending to fly in Oman airspace needs to submit a request for overflight clearance to the Air Transport Department at least 48 working hours prior to the scheduled flight departure. Including the Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN) on the flight plan is necessary, but only an overfly permit from Oman is required.
Oman Airports Authority has its own regulations for issuing flight Oman Overflight permits. There may be charges involved, such as Route Navigation Facility Charges for overflight and landing and parking charges for aircraft making halts.
All aircraft flying over Oman must be equipped with a Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) and an Airborne Collision Avoidance System (ACAS) along with a serviceable transponder.
The issued overflight permit number must be inserted in Item 18 of the submitted Flight Plan. An example of the permit format is: "Oman Overfly Permit: DAT/OF/OXM/0001/2019."
Officially, there are no Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) processing fees applied for the issuance of Oman Overflight Permits.
