Private flights, general aviation, charter flights, scheduled or non-scheduled operations, as well as passenger or cargo trips, must comply with Mauritania's specific rules, regulations, and procedures for permits to land or enter the country's airspace. Prior Permission is mandatory for these flights, and the application process requires the submission of complete flight information and aircraft documents.
According to the Mauritania Civil Aviation Authority's Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), aircraft owners/operators intending to fly in Mauritania's airspace must request overflight clearance from the Air Transport Department at least 48 working hours prior to the scheduled flight departure. It is important to include the Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN) address in the flight plan, but an overfly permit from Mauritania is the only requirement.
Mauritania Overflight Permits, denoted by the code SUR-0954-19, are valid for a duration of 72 hours from the initially requested schedule.
No Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) processing fees are officially applied for the issuance of Mauritania Overflight Permits.
The airspace of Mauritania is currently divided into one Flight Information Region (FIR).
The Mauritania Civil Aviation Authority will directly issue the air navigation bill to the airline or operator through "Asecna."
