Burundi has its own set of rules, regulations, and procedures for obtaining permits for aircraft wishing to land or enter its airspace. Whether it is a private flight, general aviation, charter flight, scheduled or non-scheduled operation, passenger or cargo trip, or a technical or traffic landing, prior permission is mandatory.

When submitting the Flight Plan, it is important to insert the issued overflight permit number in Item 18.

The overflight permit number for Burundi is 729/DG/1327/2017, and the responsible authority for issuing overflight permits in Burundi is the Burundi Civil Aviation Authority - Autorité De L'Aviation Civile du Burundi (AACB).

There are no Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) processing fees officially applied for the issuance of Burundi Overflight Permits.

Burundi overflight permits remain valid for a period of +72 hours from the initially requested schedule.

Currently, Burundi's airspace is organized under one flight information region (FIR).

The Burundi Civil Aviation Authority will issue air navigation bills directly to the company that submits the overflight permit requests.

The working hours of the Burundi Civil Aviation Authority are from 0530Z to 1300Z.
