At TPA, Tailored Fueling Keeps Flights on Schedule
Compliant with DEF STAN 91-91 and ASTM D1655 standards, Jet A-1 fuel is a cornerstone of global aviation, facilitating smooth operations and adhering to IATA and FAA regulations.
Designed for high-altitude business jets, Jet A-1 fuel decreases fuel consumption by 30%. Sourced from kerosene, it is suitable for different jet aircraft. It has a boiling range from 150°C to 250°C, a flashpoint above 38°C (100°F), and a freeze point of -47°C. Its energy density of 34.7 MJ/kg enhances range, lowering the need for frequent refueling on extended journeys.
In business aviation, precise fuel management can lower refuel times by up to 15%, allowing for quicker aircraft transitions and more accurate scheduling. Tailoring fuel compositions results in a 2-3% gain in engine thrust, enhancing performance during climb-out and at high elevations. Real-time fuel analysis improves operational efficiency by 5%, contributing to reduced costs. A 5-7% fuel reserve is critical for meeting safety standards and handling unexpected route changes.
Essential Details for Operations at Tampa International Airport (TPA)
Tampa International Airport, formerly known as Drew Field Municipal Airport until 1952, is located six miles (9.7 km) west of Downtown Tampa in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. It is publicly owned by the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA) and serves as a key gateway for both domestic and international travel, connecting 100 non-stop destinations across North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe.
The airport encompasses multiple operational facilities, including three runways and one helipad. Runway 19R/1L is the longest at 11,002 feet, surfaced with asphalt and concrete, followed by Runway 19L/1R at 8,300 feet and Runway 10/28 at 6,999 feet, both with similar surfaces. The helipad, designated H1, measures 100 feet and has an asphalt surface. In 2023, Tampa International recorded 229,772 aircraft operations, managed 328,351,866 pounds of cargo and mail, and served 23,948,889 passengers. The airport is home to 76 based aircraft. The terminal complex features a central Landside Terminal for ticketing and baggage operations, surrounded by four Airside satellites (A, C, E, and F) dedicated to passenger boarding and disembarking. These satellites are connected to the Landside Terminal via an elevated automated people mover (APM) system, which was the first driver-free system of its kind globally. The four airsides had a total of 59 gates, with Airside A and Airside C each housing 16 gates, Airside E featuring 13 gates, and Airside F comprising 14 gates. All airsides include amenities such as food courts, gift shops, and outdoor smoking areas, while Airsides E and F also provide duty-free shops to cater to international travelers. Only aircraft with prior permission may use the terminal apron; all others must use the general aviation apron. Runway 19L is noise sensitive to TBJT departures, and Runway 01R is noise sensitive to TBJT arrivals. Public noise abatement procedures are in effect.
