Overflight Permits in Bahrain’s International Operations

When planning flights over the Kingdom of Bahrain’s airspace, it is imperative to adhere to Bahrain Civil Aviation Law and Regulations. Ensuring compliance entails providing a valid mailing address for invoicing purposes, as failure to do so may lead to the rejection of approval requests.

For scheduled airlines intending to add extra flights or modify their seasonal schedules, a formal application via the (AL-NAWRAS) system is mandatory. This request should be submitted at least 72 hours before the scheduled arrival time. However, it’s important to note that aircraft registered in ICAO States and operated by airlines from contracting States are generally allowed to overfly Bahrain without requiring specific overflight permissions, provided their respective states are signatories to the International Air Transit Agreement. For non-traffic stops, advance notice of one week is required for administrative and operational reasons.

Landing Permits in Bahrain’s International Operations

All flights intending to land at Bahrain International Airport or depart from it must conform to Bahrain Civil Aviation Law and Regulations. A critical aspect of this compliance is the provision of a valid mailing address for invoicing purposes. Neglecting this requirement may lead to the rejection of approval requests.

For operators conducting VVIP/VIP flights involving landing in, departing from, or overflying Bahrain, approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is necessary, as outlined in GEN 1.2.1.1.7. Specifically, any State or Military aircraft (including chartered flights) intending to overfly, land in, or depart from Bahrain must apply for approval. A minimum notice period of two weeks before the intended date of overflight, arrival, or departure is required to comply with this regulation.
